STAND ALONE SERVER OR VM?

Many companies still have physical ‘on-premise’ servers and employ virtualization technology to maximize their investment in physical hardware!

We sell, install and maintain physical servers and manage virtualization technology for our customers. The term VM stands for Virtual Machine. Many VM’s can be installed on one physical server to take advantage of the huge processing power of the hardware these days. We work frequently with Hyper-V and VMWare ESXi software to accomplish this. There are strengths and weaknesses to each and different purposes for each as well! We’ll deploy the one that makes the most sense for your environment. We know you’ll say, “What the heck are they talking about?” but that’s ok. We’ve been working with physical servers and VM’s for many years so we’ll be able to explain it all to you and guide you towards the right technology to meet your needs, don’t worry!

WHY WOULD I WANT AN ON- PREMISE SERVER?

Many businesses struggle with this exact question, and with all the buzz around the ‘cloud’ and how those types of solutions have become so popular; and with good reason; it’s hard to know what to do. Typically, an on-premise solution will still be deployed when database software’s exist or will be deployed in the environment that cannot run in the cloud; or security measures are in place that prohibit servers from being in data centres (cloud). Also, larger offices that are growing or have high staff turnover might want to have mail and databases servers in house; typically, because cloud deployment costs would be prohibitive. Finally, there are still companies that just don’t like or trust the ‘cloud’ and want all of their precious data and ‘stuff’ in house.
